The Guiyang Free Trade Zone (Guiyang FTZ) held an exchange symposium and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Ethiopia-China Friendship and Cooperation Committee on April 27.
The delegation from the Ethiopia-China Friendship and Cooperation Committee visited several key sites and enterprises within the zone, including the Guiyang International Land Port, Guizhou Jijun Semiconductor Industrial Park, and Guizhou Wanhui International Trade. It spoke highly of the Guiyang FTZ's achievements in advancing high-level opening-up and high-quality development.
Gong Lianhu, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee of Guiyang FTZ, noted that the zone is expanding its relationships with more countries. By co-hosting events such as the "Guizhou-Lancang-Mekong Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange" with the Foreign Affairs Office of Guizhou Province, Guiyang FTZ is building broader platforms for local enterprises.
He expressed hope that both parties would use the symposium to boost the import and export of green coffee beans, used cars, and optoelectronic semiconductor equipment. By leveraging their respective strengths and enhancing communication, they aim to deepen cooperation and broaden it into new areas.
Xu Junjun, chairman of the Ethiopia-China Friendship and Cooperation Committee, pointed out that in recent years, Guiyang has demonstrated strong vitality and significant potential in coffee consumption and supply chain development.
Ethiopia possesses high-quality green coffee bean resources and a rich cultural heritage, creating strong industrial complementarity with Guiyang FTZ in areas such as raw bean trade and deep processing.
Xu expressed hope that both sides would leverage their strengths to pursue deeper cooperation from a higher strategic perspective. The partnership aims to align with the Belt and Road Initiative, boosting the high-quality development of Guizhou's open economy.
