A truck laden with fresh potatoes recently departed from Guiyang Free Trade Zone (Guiyang FTZ) for Mongolia, marking the first export of Guizhou potatoes to the country.

The 25-metric-ton shipment, harvested from Yongle township in Guiyang's Nanming district, will travel through Ereenhot Port. The export was handled by Guizhou Wanhui International Trade Co.

Since starting operations in Guiyang FTZ in 2024, the company has exported navel oranges, ginger, and garlic from Guizhou to dozens of countries, including Dubai, Russia, India, Japan, and South Korea.

To ensure the potatoes remained fresh, the company employed streamlined logistics and received government support to complete export filings, quality control, and customs clearance.

The shipment not only marks an expansion of sales channels but also provides an international boost to Guizhou's agricultural brands. By tapping into new markets like Mongolia, the initiative is expected to boost the county economy and help local farmers increase their incomes through global trade.
