A 20-metric-ton shipment of fresh garlic recently completed its 20-day journey to Dubai, with its first stop at the Guiyang Free Trade Zone (Guiyang FTZ) Guizhou International Consolidation and Distribution Center.

The garlic, from Guizhou Wanhui International Trade Co in Guiyang FTZ, completed customs clearance through the zone's foreign trade integrated service platform, while local supply chain enterprises provided optimal transportation solutions. Once inspected, the goods could proceed directly to their destination without further checks at transit ports.

China is the world's largest producer and exporter of garlic, with a total export volume of 2.62 million tons in 2024. Guizhou Wanhui's garlic is primarily exported to the Middle East.

After obtaining its customs declaration form, the garlic was loaded onto a truck equipped with a ‌temperature-controlled container and promptly headed south to Shenzhen Shekou Port. From there, it was loaded onto an ocean-going vessel and reached Dubai in about 20 days. Guizhou Wanhui receives timely updates on shipment arrivals and is notified of new orders.

Since operations began on Dec 19, the ‌Guizhou International Consolidation and Distribution Center‌ has handled over 20 types of goods. These include second-hand cars, baijiu, rubber, fresh vegetables, and general merchandise, contributing to a bonded business import-export value of 570 million yuan ($81.43 million).
